I am a nursing supervisor at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. I have been a nurse for almost 18 years and have been very blessed to work with some awesome people as well as care for the many wonderful people that come to the Mayo Clinic.
Why did you decide to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day?
This is my third year as a walker in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. My dream is to live to see them find a cure so no one has to hear the words, "You have breast cancer." All of us working together will truly make a difference!
Do you have a personal connection to breast cancer?
This year I am one of two survivors on the team. My journey began in 2006 so when I walk in August of this year I will be a three year survivor!!
What are you most looking forward to in participating?
This year will be the first year that all of my kids and my husband will be able to walk with me. They have been there beside me giving me strength and love following my diagnosis and now we will walk side by side in the fight for the cure!
What will be your biggest challenge in participating?
It is always a challenge to find the time to train for the event. I have not had trouble with endurance but my feet look pretty rough by the final day so it is good to toughen them in prior to the walk.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
The strength and love of the thousands of people around you is amazing! Each of us there for the same purpose, to do what we can to support the search for a cure. We are able to walk because of all the wonderful people that support us. The donations of our supporters touch many lives and truly makes a difference in the fight against breast cancer. We couldn't do this without all of you!
